The Story Behind the Brand

After a years-long hiatus from photography, I jumped head first back into it in 2024. One problem. I needed a name for my brand.

My roots are firmly planted in the midwest, having grown up in Iowa and now living in Nebraska. However, my heart wants to roam the country, the world! Now that I’ve stepped outside of my comfort zone and put my agoraphobia in the past all I want to do is travel. This is how Rooted + Roaming was created.

But why a Buffalo? Not only am I a die-hard Bill fan, but my dad is a WNY native and the majority of his family is still in the Buffalo area. It’s quickly become one of my favorite places to visit and on my last trip there I got a wandering Buffalo tattoo. I incorporated that into the brand and voila!
